SATELLITE DISH AND TV AERIALS IN AUCKLAND
At Cole Customs we have the tools and experience required to complete any aerial or satellite cabling you require. We only use SKY approved coaxial cable so you can rest easy knowing everything will be done as per specifications. Below we will go over a few common questions about aerials and satellite installs.
I HAVE AN EXISTING SKY OUTLET, CAN YOU MOVE THIS TO ANOTHER LOCATION?
Yes we can do that no problems. In fact this is quite a common request especially when you first move into a new home. The aerial or satellite cable never seems to be in the optimal position. We are able to re locate this cable to a more suitable position normally fairly easily for you.
I ALREADY HAVE ONE SATELLITE OUTLET, CAN YOU SPLIT THIS AND INSTALL A 2ND OUTLET?
We can do this for both satellite and aerial options. But there are a few things to be aware of when you split the signal from the satellite. First is that you get a loss of signal strength each time you split that cable. This means that if you do not have good reception in the first place this can deteriorate your picture quality. The preferred method for Satellite connections is to run a separate cable to the dish and have your TV provider come and install a dual receiver (if not already installed) so you get 2 separate TV signals of the highest strength for the area.
DO I NEED A UHF OR VHF AERIAL FOR FREEVIEW?
For Freeview you will need a UHF Aerial installed for you to be able to watch free to air TV. UHF stands for Ultra High Frequency and is the frequency range that Freeview HD is transmitted on.
I HAVE A VHF AERIAL, CAN I USE THIS FOR MY TV?
Unfortunately not, the old analogue TV signal was turned off in September 2013 making the old VHF Aerials redundant for watching TV now. VHF stands for Very High Frequency and is commonly used for radio communications.
THERE IS AN OLD SKY TV DISH ON MY ROOF, CAN THIS BE USED FOR FREEVIEW?
It sure can as long as its still in good condition you are able to use this dish to receive the FreeView signal from the Optus D1 satellite that orbits the earth above us. You will need a suitable Freeview decoder such as a Dish TV unit to decode to signal so you can watch it.
I HAVE POOR RECEPTION ALL OF A SUDDEN CAN YOU FIX THIS?
Yes we can. Its not uncommon after a stormy night that aerials be bumped out of alignment. This can cause all sorts of frustrating TV watching. Give us a call if you are experiencing problems and we will be more than happy to sort these out for you.
